The "Mr S Fielder" is probably Sammy Fielder had an off licence down Pasture Road - possibly the corner of Red Lion Street. A friend of mine had a Saturday morning job there which I sometimes used to do for him when he was away. You had to take all the empty beer bottles in crates on a barrow from the shop to the building at the end of the back yard, and full ones back to the shop - Sammy would point at the full crates and say I'll have 2 of these, and 1 of these, etc., which you stacked up ready to take to the front. He also kept emphasising never to drink anything out of the empty bottles, even if half-full, because you never knew what it was that was in them. If he trusted you, you also got to take the weeks takings to the bank. I remember riding through Goole on my bike hoping no one knew I had a fortune in my pocket.
